Merry Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas and were so blessed to be able to shower our boys with love and, of course, gifts.  Here are a few of my favorite photos from yesterday:

We wish everyone a wonderful holiday and a happy and healthy new year from Boomerang Drive!

Advent Days 21-24

Day 21: Make hand print Christmas trees.

Day 22: Make and decorate sugar cookies.

Day 23: Deliver cookies to Daddy's school.  Of course I forgot to take pictures.  We didn't tell Erik we were coming to see him, and when we arrived, he was busy working with a small group of students.  When I told him I brought cookies for the kids, he had them play music for us to "earn" a cookie.  We went from group to group, getting a little music in exchange for cookies.

Day 24: Christmas Eve with the Schlosser family.

Advent Days 16-20

Day 16: See the Christmas train display at the Choo Choo barn.

Even the animals were ready for Christmas!

Day 17: Go to the planetarium at Daddy's school.  (I realize now this was not necessarily about Christmas, but it was still a special activity).

Day 18: Go to the new muppet movie (again, not Christmas, but whatever).

Erik took this with his ipod at the theater -- they have these neat scenes that you can pose your kids by. :)

We actually had 2 activities today -- we enjoyed a visit from Grandpa and Grandma.

Day 19: Make pretzel bites.  A super easy cooking activity!

Day 20: Give a gift to a friend.  Alex and Madi exchanged little gifts from the dollar store.  He gave her a Dora the Explorer calendar and she gave him stickers.

Go Away, Monster!

This is proof that, for 3 minutes and 19 minutes, the boys can play very well with each other!

(If the video below doesn't play for you, try here).

Advent Days 11-15

Day 11: Make a marshmallow snowman.  To quote Erik, "This blurs the line between edible and toxic."

Day 12: Go to a Christmas party.  Our moms club does this every year.  It included a visit from Santa, who gave each child a book (that the moms brought, wrapped, and sneaked in).

Day 13: Christmas crafts with friends.  Alex worked on a picture with his friend Madi.  The coolest part was, the boys came home with these amazing capes Madi's Nana had made for them.

Day 14: Open a present.  I had found The Care Bears Nutcracker in a bargain bin, and let the boys open it yesterday.  It worked out great because we were visiting a friend who lives 45 minutes away, so they watched it in the car.  Alex loved it and laughed out loud quite a few times.

Day 15: Listen to music at Ten Thousand Villages with Daddy.  Alex enjoyed a cookie and milk and listened to music played by some of Erik's students.

Advent Days 6-10

Day 6: Make a Christmas ornament.  Kinda hard to see against the tree -- it is one of those ones that's like a sun catcher.  Alex painted it but it's pretty translucent.

Day 7: Look at Christmas lights.  We enjoyed driving around town (although it ended up being a rainy night) and looking at lights.  This was one of the favorites, a lights display set to music at the model home in one of the newer developments in our area.

Day 8: Milk and cookies with Santa at the library.

Day 9: Train display at the Lititz library.  Alex really enjoyed this, there was a scavenger hunt with specific items hidden around the display that you had to find.

Day 10: Pancake breakfast at Daddy's school.

Of course, their favorite part was "rolling" down the hallway.

Inside the Miles

I know a lot of you follow this blog to keep up on what's happening with our family.  For those of you who are interested, I have created a separate blog that will center around running, fitness, weight loss, body image, and health.  You can find my new blog, Inside the Miles, here.  That's where you will be able to read about any races I complete and how my training is going, so make sure you head on over there and become a follower.  Thanks!

Advent Days 1-5

Hooray!  It's time for the advent calendar!   Here's what we've been up to so far:

Day 1: Watch a Christmas movie with friends.  We went to our friend Evan's house and watched The Polar Express.

Day 2: Make a paper chain.  Okay, this is the most simple activity ever, but Alex really liked it.  We decorated some of the chain links (until Alex got tired of it), and put them together.  He had fun counting them.

Day 3: Make a Christmas game with Daddy.  (I wasn't home to take a picture of them working on it this year, but they had lots of fun!)

Day 4: Make reindeer cookies.

Day 5: Make Christmas cards for kids in the hospital.  Alex traced the body of this gingerbread man from a cookie cutter but drew the decorations himself.

Other December photos can be found here.
