Happy Half Birthday Thomas!

Thomas is 6 months old today! To say that the first half of the first year of his life went quickly is an understatement. Time is flying!

And so now, with a 6 month old, it's time to get back to blogging. Thomas is more independent, and napping better, so I am finding (a little) more time to get things done. Not much, but some.

So what do we decide to do with the TINY bit of free time we still have? Start a major home project, of course!

It all started when we got really tired of looking at these ceilings:

Yeah, pretty gross, huh? So we found a drywall guy recommended by a friend, and he gave us some different options, everywhere from replacing a few small damaged sections of ceiling to ripping it out and starting all over. We decided that our best bet would be to just go with a whole new ceiling, since we already had plans for new flooring, paint, and furniture. And so, Project Basement was underway.

Step 1: Clear out the basement.

Step 2: Rip up carpeting and take down ceiling. We also hired an electrician at this point to install new lighting.

That's where we are at this point. New drywall is being hung tomorrow!

I have decided to document every step of this process because I regret not doing it when we redid the first floor 2 years ago -- I wish I had pictures of the absolute chaos our house was then! At least now, we can close the door of the basement and pretend the mess isn't there.

More coming in a few days!

And that's what's happening on crazy Boomerang Drive!
