Running Plans

Okay, I promised you more running stuff to read about. :) Now that I've had a few days to rest (well, not really), I'm ready to answer the question "What next?"

First up is a 5K on Thanksgiving morning! I will be running in the Pie and Glove 5K in Corning, NY, while visiting my family there. It is named based on the prizes: pies for the first 3 runners in each category, and gloves for all finishers. It will be interesting for me to do something that is really short compared to the half marathon. I will be really focused on improving my speed. My time in my last 5K (when I ran back in April with Mark and Ken) was 30:55. I should definitely be able to improve that this time.

Over the winter, I plan on continuing to run at least 3 times per week, one of which will be speed intervals. At least twice a month, I would like to get out for a run that is 10 miles or more. This will help me keep a good running base for next year's race season.

My goals for next year, ASSUMING everything goes as planned -- no injuries, major illnesses, unforeseen events, etc.: run another half marathon in the spring, at least 2 smaller races (5K/5 mile/10K) in the spring/summer, and a full marathon in the fall. As of right now, I have my sights set on the Wineglass Marathon in October in Corning. Of course, that's a year from now, so we'll see what happens!

I am still waiting for my official race photos to come to me via email -- if I like them I will post!

And that's what's happening on Boomerang Drive!
