4th of July

This morning, Erik and his family took the boys to a 4th of July parade. If you're wondering why Alex has a Halloween bucket in the picture, it was his idea to take it to catch the candy that was thrown.

I stayed at home and ran in the Ephrata Firecracker Run, a 5-mile race. We have lived in Ephrata for almost 6 years now, but this is the first time I've done the race. I really enjoyed it. I don't have any detailed race report for you, because I actually don't have much to say about it. My time was 52:51 for 5.05 miles, which was about a 10:15 pace, and I felt like I gave it a solid effort the whole way through. I haven't been worried too much about speed lately while training for the marathon, focusing more on long, slow distance runs, so it was nice to do a shorter race for a change.

Happy 4th of July from Boomerang Drive!
