Advent Days 21-24: Where We Had to Wing It

Well, as some of you may know, Christmas plans were disrupted this week when, on Wednesday night, Thomas started throwing up. He was over it quickly -- less than 24 hours -- but we made the decision not to travel to New York on Friday as planned, because we didn't want to get anyone sick.

SO . . . some of our Advent activities were changed as well.

Day 21:
Original Plan: Open a present. They were each going to open a new movie to watch on the way to New York.

New Plan: Enjoy the new winter displays at the Hands on House. The boys had lots of fun with a pretend snowball fight.

Day 22:
Original Plan: Christmas in New York.

New Plan: Christmas shopping with Daddy. They even had an unexpected run-in with Santa at the Rockvale Outlets.

Day 23:
Original Plan: Last minute things we made up -- wrap presents, make cards, bake cookies, watch a Christmas movie.

What ended up happening: Presents got wrapped by the guys while I was out running in the morning. But later in the day, when we were ready to do the cookies, Alex started throwing up. So Thomas and I made them, but I didn't get a picture. Then both boys just chilled in front of a movie for a while since Alex wasn't feeling up to anything.

Day 24:
Original Plan: Christmas Eve with the Schlossers. We are so sad that we won't be making it. As of writing this, Alex seems to be doing great, but it should probably be out of his system for 24 hours before we see people.

New Plan: Open a present. 

Alex got the game Jenga . . .

And Thomas got a new Play-doh set. 

We also plan on going to see a Christmas lights display later tonight. We are trying to enjoy the day even though we're disappointed that we couldn't do everything we wanted to do. But we're thankful that it appears we are all healthy, and we're together. And that's what matters.
